Man sets himself ablaze in Noida

NOIDA - A 40-year old man, apparently depressed with his personal life, allegedly committed suicide by setting himself afire with the help of cooking gas in Noida Thursday afternoon, police said.

Veer Singh Chauhan immolated himself in Chhalera locality of Sector-44, according to superintendent of police Ashok Kumar Tripathi.

Around 1.30 p.m. when his wife and three children were away, the man locked himself in a room at his house and filled the entire room with the LPG gas after detaching the pipe from the burner.

All the belongings inside the room were also reduced to ashes. The man sustained over 90 percent burns and died on the spot.

Kumar said the Veer Singh had differences with his wife over personal matters due to which he remained disturbed for a long time. The body has been sent for autopsy.
