Man floating on air mattress rescued in Pa. bay

ERIE, Pa. — Police arrested a man who had to be rescued by the Coast Guard after he was found floating on an air mattress in Presque Isle Bay. Police haven’t identified the man or said what charges he faces in the incident about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday. So far Wednesday, police have not returned calls for more information.

Police said two boaters called 911 after a fisherman told them his friend was in the water. The Coast Guard crew was able to pull the man from the water about 60 yards from shore.

The man wasn’t hurt and police haven’t said how or why he ended up floating on the mattress. But he was handcuffed and taken into custody.
