BHOPAL - A man in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district has been arrested for burning his wife’s hand to verify her fidelity, police said Thursday.
Rajbhan Yadav of Bhitoni village in Jabalpur used to suspect the moral character of his wife Anuj Bai and often tortured her over the issue, said the police.
“Rajbhan came home Wednesday night and asked Anuj to prove her loyalty. He asked her to dip her hand in boiling oil in a bid to prove her fidelity saying that her hands would not burn if she was honest but if her hands burnt, it would mean that she had been cheating on him”, the police said.
Anuj had no option but to obey her husband’s demand and got her hands burnt. She was then thrown out of the house at that very moment. After Anuj lodged a complaint against her husband, the police arrested the man and sent him to jail.
