KOLKATA - Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee Sunday expressed concern over the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, saying it has endangered the people’s economic security.

“I am very upset with the recent price-rise in the country. I am very concerned over this problem,” Banerjee told a gathering here.

She said the economic security of common people has gone down significantly.

“Today no one’s job is secure. The companies are utilising their employees like ‘use and throw’ materials,” Banerjee said.

“Earlier, we thought if someone got a job he or she was secured till 58-60 years of age. But things have changed. Now anyone can lose his job on any given day, just by a termination letter,” Banerjee said.
