Maharashtra notches 48 percent turnout as polling ends (Third Lead)

MUMBAI - Maharashtra notched around 48 percent voter turnout at the end of polling for the assembly elections Tuesday evening, an official said.

The final figures will be available late Tuesday evening. Barring a few stray incidents, polling was by and large peaceful across the state.

The electorate cast their votes in 84,136 polling stations across the state to elect 288 representatives from among 3,559 contenders, including 211 women. Counting of votes will be held Oct 22.
