Total eligible voters: 714 million

Poll dates: April 16, 23 and 30; May 7 and 13

Counting: May 16

Polling stations: 828,804

General seats: 412

Scheduled Caste seats: 84

Scheduled Tribe seats: 47

Total electronic voting machines to be used: 1.36 million

Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh: Five phases

Bihar: Four phases

Maharashtra and West Bengal: Three phases

Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Orissa and Punjab: Two phases

Fifteen other states and seven Union territories: single-phase
