Lockheed Martin gets $6.2M Army deal

WASHINGTON — A division of Lockheed Martin Corp. recently received a $6.2 million contract from the Army to develop a full tensor gravity gradiometer, the Pentagon said late Thursday.

A gradiometer can be used in a variety of applications including vehicle navigation, hydrocarbon and mineral exploration, and more.

Work will be performed in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and is expected to be completed by July 15, 2012.

Shares of the Bethesda, Md.-based fell 3 cents to close at $74.84 in after-hours trading, after falling 28 cents to close at $74.87.
