Gadhafi meets with Italian business leaders
ROME — Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has met with business leaders during a visit to Italy that has sparked protests.
Gadhafi held talks Friday with the powerful business lobby Confindustria on trade and possible investments between the two countries.
Italy and Libya, a former Italian colony, have strong business ties. Major Italian corporations such as oil giant Eni have long invested heavily in the North African country.
Gadhafi will meet later Friday with hundreds of prominent Italian women in a concert hall in Rome.
Gadhafi, on his first visit to Italy, has met with the country’s top officials. He faced angry protests Thursday over his human rights record and treatment of migrants during a speech at Rome’s university.
