Lashkar-e-Taiba may attack India again: Top UN official

NEW YORK - Richard Barrett, the coordinator of the UN Security Council’s al-Qaeda and Taliban Sanctions Monitoring Committee on Wednesday said that the Pakistan-based terrorist group, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group, may target India again.

“Lashkar-e-Taiba tactics is quite obvious. It is trying to increase tensions between India and Pakistan at a time when they and their associates are particularly under pressure in western Pakistan,” Barrett said in at press conference at the UN Headquarters here.

“They may do that again and this is the real risk,” he added.

The LeT have carried out major attacks against India, including the Mumbai terror attacks. It was declared a terrorist organisation by the United Nations Security Council in December last year. (ANI)
