LONDON - New British singing sensation Leona Lewis has been snubbed by the Brit Awards.

‘It’s a complete travesty, Lewis has been overlooked in her own country. She should have been a sure shot for best female. She had the most amazing year - even the new US president (Barack Obama) wanted her to perform at his inauguration,’ mirror.co.uk reported an insider as saying.

Lewis, 23, became famous after she won the British talent show ‘X Factor’ and is one of the few British solo artistes to make it big in the US.

She was also snubbed by the MTV Europe Awards recently and last year she did not win a single Brit award though she had four nominations.
