Las Vegas Sands, Disney, UBS, Ford are big movers
NEW YORK — Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Friday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market.
Las Vegas Sands Corp., down $1.80 at $9.35
Analysts said traffic was slowing at casinos and cited concerns about the company’s capital position after it posted a quarterly loss.
Ford Motor Co., up 61 cents at $8
The debt sale by the automaker’s financing arm and a likely sales benefit from “cash for clunkers” legislation boosted shares to a 52-week high.
UBS AG, up 95 cents at $14.74
The U.S. and Swiss governments said they had a settlement in the Swiss bank’s tax evasion case, and a judge canceled next week’s trial.
Walt Disney Co., down $1.10 at $25.12
The entertainment company posted a 26 percent profit drop, and some analysts said weak consumer spending would weigh on earnings.
PerkinElmer Inc., down $1.46 at $17.63
The health and industrial sciences company cut its profit outlook for the year, saying drug developer customers are cutting spending.
Anadys Pharmaceuticals Inc., up 80 cents at $2.60
The drug developer, which currently has no products on the market, said regulators approved the study design of a hepatitis C treatment.
Synaptics Inc., down $11.88 at $23.97
Two analysts downgraded their ratings on the maker of touch-screen technology after it issued disappointing sales guidance.
YRC Worldwide Inc., down 29 cents at $1.40
A deeper-than-expected loss alarmed Wall Street, and a Stifel Nicolaus analyst said the trucker could run out of cash this year.
