Bail considered for accused Erin Andrews stalker
CHICAGO — A Chicago judge is expected to decide whether a man accused of stalking and secretly videotaping ESPN reporter Erin Andrews should be released on bail.
A federal magistrate is scheduled to decide Monday whether 47-year-old Michael D. Barrett of Westmont should be sent to Los Angeles as a federal prisoner or free on bail to face charges.
The suburban Chicago man is accused of videotaping Andrews nude by aiming a cell phone camera through an altered peephole in the door of her hotel room.
Investigators said he posted the videos online and tried to sell them to celebrity Web site TMZ.com. Barrett faces charges in Los Angeles, where TMZ is based, of interstate stalking.
His lawyer has said he assumes the allegations aren’t true.
