Suicide car bomb kills 5 police officers in Iraq
BAGHDAD — An Iraqi police official says a suicide car bomber targeting a police station in a remote village north of Baghdad has killed five officers.
The official says the suicide bomber struck at about 8 a.m. Saturday in the village of Hamad, which is north of Saddam Hussein’s hometown of Tikrit. The official says seven officers have been wounded in the explosion.
The bombing is the latest attack in northern Iraq to target remote communities where there are often few checkpoints and little security.
