Book about Bernie Madoff affair poised for release
NEW YORK — Bernard Madoff’s decades-long fraud apparently wasn’t his only secret. A new book says he had a two-decade affair with one of his investors.
The revelation is a memoir by Sheryl Weinstein titled “Madoff’s Other Secret: Love, Money, Bernie, and Me.” It goes on sale Aug. 25.
John Murphy, a spokesman for book publisher St. Martin’s Press, said Friday that the relationship between Weinstein and Madoff spanned just over 20 years.
Madoff is serving 150 years in prison for defrauding thousands of investors in a multibillion-dollar fraud. Weinstein has said she met him 21 years ago at a business meeting when she was chief financial officer for Hadassah, a charitable women’s organization.
Madoff attorney Ira Sorkin did not immediately return a call for comment Friday.
