Indians glued to TV sets, watch Obama inauguration

NEW DELHI - People in cities and towns across India remained glued to their TV sets well into the night, not wishing to miss witnessing the history in the making, as Barack Obama took the oath of office as US president.

Most Indian TV news channels started telecasting the inauguration ceremony live from 9 p.m. Indian time, and as Obama was sworn-in at 11.35 p.m., Indians joined countless millions around the globe in rejoicing the change.

Small towns too were not left untouched by the excitement generated by the US presidential election and its historic outcome.
