NEW DELHI - The chairman of British parliament’s Home Affairs Committee, Keith Vaz, on Wednesday said that India and the United Kingdom must act together to ‘fight terrorism’ that was entering both the countries in form of illegal immigrants.

“Thousands and thousands of people are coming to Britain who aren’t actually students, who get fake documents, who get entry to the United Kingdom and who don’t attend any colleges. Unless they are occupied being students what else they are doing?” asked Vaz.

British Parliament’s Home Affairs Committee investigated “bogus colleges” after ‘The Times’ newspaper reported that at least one of 12 men held in counter-terrorism raids was a student at a college that sold places on fake courses to foreign nationals seeking entry to Britain.

About 12 nationals, including 10 from Pakistan, were later released without charge, although most still face deportation from Britain.

The UK tightened the law in an effort to ensure only genuine international students should come to the country through colleges registered with the UK Border Agency.

Vaz hoped India and Britain would work in greater coordination and strength to deal with terrorism.

“There is no bad and good terrorism. Terrorism is an evil and we all need to work together, Britain in India in particular, to prevent it from happening in order to deal with its consequences,” added Vaz.

India has showed its concerns over the influx of Bangladeshi immigrants and many of them staying over even after their visa expired.

Illegal migrants and terrorists are crossing over through porous borders India shares with Bangladesh and Pakistan. (ANI)
