India beat New Zealand by 53 runs

NAPIER - India defeated New Zealand by 53 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis System in a rain affected first one-day international at the Mclean Park here Tuesday.
Batting first, India made 273 runs in 38 overs and New Zealand were given a rain- revised target of 216 runs off 28 overs. But in reply, New Zealand could only make 162 for nine.
