Iconic Mexican skyscraper to house hotel

MEXICO CITY - One of Mexico’s tallest skyscrapers, which was built over 50-years-back, will undergo a makeover to house a hotel in 20 of its 44 floors, project sources said.
The project will begin in November and finish in 2010, which marks the 100th anniversary of the Mexican revolution.
The 189 metre-high tower “continues to be an icon and a point of reference” in the city, one of the building’s administrators said Monday.
The skyscraper, which used to be the tallest building in Mexico for many years, had survived the 1957 earthquake which pulled down the Angel of Independence statue.
