KOLKATA - This eastern metropolis recorded the season’s hottest day Friday with the mercury soaring to 41.8 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.

No respite seems in sight for the denizens of this city as the weatherman has warned that the heat wave condition in other south Bengal districts would continue for the next 48 hours.

‘We are also issuing heat wave warnings for the city for the next 24 hours,’ said Regional Meteorological Centre director G.C. Debnath.

The temperature was six degrees above normal. There is little possibility of rains in the next two days, the Met Office said.
