Heavy rains lash Delhi

NEW DELHI - Heavy rains lashed the national capital Friday evening, bringing on familiar scenes of waterlogged roads and traffic jams.
The heavy showers started around 2.30 p.m. and within an hour there was disorder on the streets with reports of waterlogging on several arterial roads, red lights going kaput and chocked drains.
“In the morning its was so bright and I did not expect that it will rain. It is raining so heavily that I am afraid of long traffic jams and water logging. I hope to reach home on time,” said Swati Singh, a government employee.
