NEW DELHI - The monsoon showers eluded the capital again Sunday, and according to the weatherman it seems unlikely there will be any on Monday. Instead, the humidity and heat will be on the rise.

The maximum temperature recorded Sunday was 39.5 degrees Celsius, a good three degrees above the average. The minimum was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius.

“There has been no rain so far and none is expected. So, warm and humid conditions would continue,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The maximum humidity recorded Sunday was 87 percent.

“It will mainly be a clear sky Monday with the maximum hovering around 40 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 28 degrees Celsius,” the official said.
