British WWI vet is now world’s oldest man
LONDON — Guinness World Records says 113-year-old British World War I veteran Henry Allingham is now the world’s oldest man.
The previous holder of the title, Tomoji Tanabe, died in his sleep in southern Japan earlier Friday. He was 113.
Allingham is one of only two surviving WWI veterans in Britain.
He celebrated his 113th birthday on June 6.
He lives in a care home near Brighton in southern England.
