GM, Chrysler among possible lenders to Visteon
DOVER, Del. — Fresh from bankruptcy reorganization themselves, General Motors and Chrysler Group LLC now may become bankruptcy lenders to auto parts supplier Visteon Corp.
According to a recent court filing, GM, Chrysler and Nissan North America are in talks with Michigan-based Visteon regarding a debtor-in-possession credit facility, although no agreement has been reached.
Ford Motor Co., the only major U.S. automaker that has not sought bankruptcy protection, already has pledged at least $125 million in financing for Visteon.
GM also is involved in a potential a deal to help another auto parts supplier, Delphi Corp., emerge from bankruptcy protection.
An attorney for Visteon says the company is continuing to work with customers on a financing plan. A hearing in the case is scheduled for Thursday.
