Geithner headed to China in early June
WASHINGTON — The administration says Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will travel to Beijing early next month for meetings with senior Chinese officials.
It will be Geithner’s first trip to China since he became Treasury secretary.
The Treasury Department says Geithner’s discussions on June 1-2 will cover ways to strengthen U.S.-China economic ties. The administration earlier this year said it will continue to hold high-level talks with China started by the Bush administration, although the frequency of the meetings was halved to once a year.
The first of those talks is scheduled for this summer in Washington.
