Gazprom says preliminary deal struck with China
BEIJING — The head of Russia’s state-run natural gas monopoly Gazprom said Tuesday a preliminary deal had been reached to supply China National Petroleum Corp. with 70 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
Gazprom’s chief executive Alexei Miller told reporters that the preliminary agreement had been struck, but that a price had not been set and no contract signed yet.
He also said an agreement was possible on supplying LNG supplies to China from Sakhalin island in Russia’s far east.
