Ike-damaged Galveston condo development in flames
GALVESTON, Texas — Firefighters have brought under control a blaze at a waterfront condo development that was damaged last year when Hurricane Ike struck Galveston, Texas.
The fire started in a corner of the Maravilla Condos early Wednesday afternoon. It spread to dozens of the other 164 units. No one was reported hurt.
The development along the Gulf of Mexico was damaged during Hurricane Ike last summer and many units still were being rebuilt.
Firefighters from Galveston and neighboring cities battled the flames and smoke was seen for miles.
