Fresh offensive actions against Maoist in Lalgarh

LALGARH J - The security forces today started fresh offensive operation to flush out the Maoist activists from the trouble hit Lalgarh in West Midnapore District of West Bengal.

The joint operation by the paramilitary forces and the West Bengal State Police against the Maoists in Lalgarh area has entered the ninth day.

According to IGP (Law and Order) Raj Kanojia, six additional companies of the central forces, which are stationed in Goaltore, took control of the entire forest area of Gaoltore and Pingboni.

Kanojia said the government has deployed enough forces and they are heading towards achiving the total sanitisation of the Maoists from this area.

The IGP said the West Bengal Government is expecting another four companies of central forces as promised by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

The “Operation Lalgarh” is heading steadily, as forces scouring the entire area for landmines and other explosives.

The sources said the operation will continue until normality is restored in the troubled area and a sense of security returns among the people. (ANI)
