GHAZIABAD - Four men who allegedly robbed a house at Loni, near the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border, were lynched Sunday night by people who caught them, a police official said.

The four had broken into the house of Ramesh Bhardwaj, and as they were scaling the wall to make an escape, one of the stolen articles fell down, making a loud noise and waking up many in the neighbourhood, Senior Superintendent of Police (Ghaziabad) Akhil Kumar said.

When residents challenged them, they fired at people from the rooftop, leading to some fire in reply, the official said.

‘As the criminal tried to make an escape, some people caught them and they all were brutally beaten to death,’ Kumar said, adding that the four were yet to be identified.
