Four killed in fire in Delhi

NEW DELHI - Four men were burnt alive when a fire broke out at their house-cum-workplace in west Delhi early Thursday, officials said.
The accident took place around 4.40 a.m. in Rampura area in Punjabi Bagh. All the four were from Bihar and had been in the capital for several months.
“Two fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot. Rescue workers found four charred bodies,” said fire brigade official.
The victims were taken to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
The deceased have been identified as Jafir (22), Mohammed Izaz (20), Naseem (19) and Shafa Kareem (19), all tailors.
“All the four were sleeping when fire broke out in their room. The victims had no escape route. The room had only one entrance, which was a shutter. It was rolled down and locked from inside by them,” the official said adding the fire had started from the front part of the room.
A case under Section 436 (mischief by fire with intent to destroy a house) and 304-A (death due to negligence) of the IPC has been registered.
