SRINAGAR - Suspected militants shot dead a former guerrilla of the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit in south Kashmir Sunday evening.

Police here said unidentified attackers fired at Manzoor Ahmad Teli of south Kashmir town of Tral, 40 km from here.

‘The slain person was a released militant of the Hizbul Mujahideen group,’ a police officer told IANS.

‘He was fired upon from a close range when he came out of his house around 8 p.m. today. He died on the spot,’ the police said.

Terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Saturday warned that its cadres would carry out suicide attacks during the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

The group’s spokesman, Abdullah Ghaznavi had warned people to stay away from the poll process and said those who went for voting would do so at their own peril.
