Fla. judge reinstates bond for Leyritz

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A South Florida judge has reinstated the bond of former major leaguer Jim Leyritz, who was arrested earlier this month on a domestic battery charge.

Broward Circuit Judge Marc Gold approved Leyritz’s release Monday. Leyritz has been jailed since he was charged with domestic battery against his ex-wife on July 2. The charge was considered a violation of his bond conditions.

Leyritz must now post a $1,000 bond as a condition for his release, allowing him to move into a house in Weston. If he moves back to his old home, which he was sharing with his ex-wife, he must inform the court. The divorced couple was ordered to only communicate through their lawyers.

The 45-year-old Leyritz is awaiting a DUI manslaughter trial for a 2007 crash that killed a woman.
