Ex-city planner gets 4-12 years in boxer’s slaying

LAS VEGAS — A 55-year-old former Las Vegas city planner and longtime political activist has been sentenced to four to 12 years in prison for stabbing a Nigerian-born boxer to death in 2005.

Court officials say Michael Chambliss was sentenced Monday by Clark County District Court Judge David Barker after pleading guilty in June to voluntary manslaughter with a deadly weapon.

Chambliss and his attorneys initially claimed self-defense in the death of 26-year-old Nigerian-born boxer Vincent Ekeoba Moses at a 7-Eleven store where Moses worked as a clerk.

Police said the two men argued about a woman, and the confrontation was recorded on surveillance video.

I heard that Mr. Yaminijian, the new guy at the Tropicana in Las Vegas has gone and fired all the long standing workers to fill their spots with cheaper less experienced workers. Doesn’t he know anything about KARMA. I think that he will get what he gives. He said he would put millions into the Hotel to make it better. Doesn’t he know that you can’t make it better if you take out all the experienced help. What is he thinking?
