Houston picks Akron AD Mack Rhoades
HOUSTON — The University of Houston has hired Mack Rhoades to be the school’s athletic director.
Rhoades had been the athletic director at the University of Akron since 2006 and takes over for Dave Maggard.
The 43-year-old Rhoades recently was a finalist for the Rutgers athletic director’s vacancy. Before the Akron job, he was an assistant athletic director at Texas-El Paso.
Maggard retired last month after seven years as Houston’s AD.
The announcement was made Thursday.
