LUCKNOW - Over a hundred students have allegedly submitted fake marksheets to secure admission to a collge in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, an official said Tuesday.

The marksheets were found forged when the administration of the Bareilly College scrutinised the students’ applications.

“In the first few days of scrutiny, we found 102 such cases - 56 in BA, 21 in BCom. and 25 in BSc.,” said R.P. Singh, principal of the Bareilly College, one of the most prestigious educational institutes of the district.

“We were cross-checking the marks shown in the marksheets with the same marksheets available on the internet,” he said.

“We were shocked to see how cleanly the students have forged the marksheets and changed their marks, using computers. We even found some cases where the students are yet to appear in backlog papers but have submitted marksheets with first division marks,” Singh added.

However, no police complaint has been registered as yet, he said.

“We are still in the process of scrutiny and will definitely initiate legal action against such candidates,” he said.
