Fire at Pa. senior home high-rise injures resident
BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. — A fire at a high-rise apartment building for the elderly near Pittsburgh has injured a resident and a firefighter. Both have been hospitalized.
Bridgeville fire Chief Bill Chilleo says more than 100 people were removed from the 11-story Bridgeville Towers because of Monday night’s fire. It’s unclear when they’ll be allowed to return.
The fire broke out in the injured woman’s apartment. Chief Deputy Fire Marshal Donald Brucker says the woman is “very elderly” and her condition is “very serious.”
He says the fire appears to be accidental but he wants to speak to the injured woman before declaring a cause.
