Bond decision delayed for Chicago terror suspect
CHICAGO — A federal judge says she needs more information before deciding whether to allow one of two Chicago men accused of plotting an attack on a Danish newspaper to remain free on bond pending trial.
Tahawwur Hussain Rana appeared in court Wednesday dressed in an orange jumpsuit and glasses and sporting a thick beard.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Collins told Magistrate Judge Nan Nolan that Rana was a danger to the community and might flee to avoid prosecution.
Defense attorney Patrick Blegen says Rana lacks the money to live a life on the run.
Nolan says she needs more information and set another hearing for Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Rana and another man planned to attack Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten newspaper and other targets.
