Investigators seek witnesses to SC chopper crash

GEORGETOWN, S.C. — Federal investigators hope to find witnesses who saw a medical helicopter crash near the South Carolina coast, killing all three people on board.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported Monday that National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Peter Knudson says investigators want to talk with any witnesses to the Friday night crash.

The pilot, 45-year-old Patrick Walters of Murrells Inlet, 42-year-old nurse Dianna Conner of Florence and 39-year-old medic Randolph Dove of Bladenboro, N.C., died.

The Carolina Lifecrew members had delivered a patient to a Charleston hospital and were returning to Conway when the helicopter came down in woods in Georgetown County.

Investigators said Sunday there were no initial indications of an equipment malfunction.
