Slain Mich. protester to receive public memorial
OWOSSO, Mich. — Family and fellow anti-abortion activists are expected to gather at a prep football stadium to honor a Michigan man who was shot to death while protesting abortion.
It’s not clear how many people will attend Wednesday’s memorial for 63-year-old James Pouillon (POO-yan). But school district officials in the Michigan town of Owosso are allowing his family to hold the memorial at Willman Field in case there is a large crowd.
Police say Pouillon was the first of two people fatally shot Friday by a 33-year-old truck driver. At the time of the shooting, Pouillon was standing across from Owosso High School holding a sign that had a picture of an aborted fetus.
Owosso is located about 70 miles northwest of Detroit.
