Elizabeth Edwards: Rebuilding trust a slow process

CHICAGO — Elizabeth Edwards says rebuilding trust with her husband after his admitted affair is “a slow process.”

The wife of former U.S. Sen. John Edwards spoke during an during an interview aired Thursday on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” She discussed her husband’s infidelity, her struggle with terminal cancer and her new memoir detailing how she has coped with both.

Elizabeth Edwards calls her husband “a really good man who did a very bad thing” and says they would have a perfect marriage if it weren’t for his affair with videographer Rielle (ree-EHL’) Hunter.

John Edwards tells Winfrey he was not sure if his wife would leave him after he told her about the affair in 2006, soon after he started his second presidential campaign.
