Ex-newspaper staffers’ Denver news site to end

DENVER — A Denver-focused daily Web magazine led by former staffers of the defunct Rocky Mountain News says its last day will be Monday.

One of the editors, Steve Foster, said Friday that the Rocky Mountain Independent’s site won’t be taken down, but its staffers won’t be posting new content. Instead, it will support partner blogs and Web sites.

The editors said in July when the site launched that they would run it for three months, then see what was next.

Foster says the site didn’t catch fire. He says it had about 200 subscribers and some advertising, but it didn’t get enough traffic to lure needed advertising.
