NEW DELHI - A record 233 cases have been registered in the last 15 days in the capital against political parties over violation of the election conduct code.

‘We have registered 233 election related offences in just 15 days. We have written to all political parties to follow the model code of conduct,’ Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal told reporters.

He said since the announcement of the date of general elections on March 2, Delhi Police has removed 588 hoardings, 984 banners, 1,462 banners and erased 136 wall writings as part of an anti-defacement drive.

The Election Commission had banned these ahead of the elections.

Delhi Police registered 1,127 defacement cases during assembly elections last year.
