NEW DELHI - A security guard employed by a sub-contractor and posted at an under-construction Delhi Metro station fell from the elevated track and sustained injuries Saturday evening, an official said, adding it was not clear if this was a suicide attempt.

The man, identified as Shambhu, was rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shahstri hospital after he fell from the track near Lakshmi Nagar station around 7 p.m., the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official said.

He was not authorised to go to the elevated track and was not wearing a safety helmet, the official said.

Shambhu was likely to be discharged in two days, the official said.
