DC Metro train reopens stations for rush hours near site of crash that killed 9

DC Metro red line stations open after crash

WASHINGTON — Metro is reopening all the stations along its red line during the morning and evening rush hours after a crash earlier this week killed nine people.

The crash occurred on the red line between the Fort Totten and Takoma stations. Those stations will be open during Thursday rush hours, but officials told commuters to still expect delays. The north and south trains will have to share one track through that stretch.

Investigators are going to continue to inspect the tracks at the site of the crash. They expect to close the stretch during the day and after the evening commute.

Investigators have been looking at whether automated controls driving the commuter train led to Monday’s crash.
