SILIGURI - The disruption of popular toy train services in Darjeeling disappointed the tourists as the rail track was damaged by the landslides in the region.

The tourists looking forward for a joy ride along Darjeeling Himalayan Railways had to change their plans.

“I am very much disheartened because my dream was to take my family in the toy train but now I will go back to my hotel,” said Sanjay Tripathi, a tourist from Lucknow.

The track has been washed away at Gayabari, Kerseong and Darjeeling due to heavy incessant rainfall and landslides from the hills.

Every year the Darjeeling hill receives torrential rainfall, which results in heavy landslides that disrupts the rail and the road services for days together.

The tour operators now want a permanent solution, as they fear this may result in decline of tourists in the hill town. (ANI)
