Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years is all grown up now. The mathematician and actress Danica McKellar who played Winnie on the hit TV show swapped vows with composer Mike Verta, according to her representative. The wedding was at an ocean-side church at La Jolla, California at sunset and the bride walked down the aisle in a mermaid style wedding gown and a tiara by Renee Strauss. The groom wore a tuxedo with tails and white gloves.
Guests at the wedding included Dan Lauria and Allie Mills who played the parents of Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) on the show but her on-screen beau Fre Savage did not attend. The bride’s sister and Maid of Honour was Crystal Dawn Scripps McKellar.
Crystal was a child actress before she went on to become a lawyer. She graduated from Harvard law School and is now an associate attorney at Davis Polk and Wardwell. She and Danica often competed for the same roles when they were both actresses.
She had appaently competed with Danica for the role of Winnie Cooper but the role eventually went to Danica. Crystal played Becky Slater, who was a recurring character and Kevin’s one-time love interest on the show. In 1988 and 1989, she was nominated for the Best Young Actress Guest Starring In A Television Series award at the eleventh annual Youth in Film Award.
Danica on the other hand went on to become a mathematician and has authored two books: “Math Doesn’t Suck” and “Kiss My Math” in an attempt to make addition and subtraction sound appealing. She appeared on The Wonder Years as the young love interest of Kevin Arnold, played by Fred Savage that went on to become a super hit TV show for five seasons.
