Counselors on hand for grieving Texas students
BRIDGEPORT, Texas — Counselors will be available for students at a Texas high school after one girl died and another was injured when an awning fell on the teenagers.
Superintendent Eddie Bland said that starting Wednesday, students and staff at Bridgeport High School can talk to counselors about the accident.
Leslie Denison was jogging on a sidewalk in downtown Bridgeport Tuesday with her friend Rebekah Logan when the concrete-and-aluminum awning collapsed. Denison died at the scene and Logan had severe cuts to her face. Logan was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and was released early Wednesday.
Both girls were cheerleaders and ran cross country at the school.
Bridgeport is about 45 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
