Correction: TVA Budget

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — In an Aug. 20 story about the Tennessee Valley Authority’s budget for 2010, The Associated Press reported erroneously the impact of electric rate changes on consumers.

The rate increase and fuel adjustment charge decrease taking effect Oct. 1 will drop the retail bill for a typical residential household using 1,000 kilowatt hours a month from $95 to $93. The change cited in the story, from $66.61 to $64.77, is for wholesale customers.

Depending on their distributer, retail consumers can expect actual savings of 50 cents to $4 in the October bill, TVA says.
