Correction: Today in History-July 30
In the Today in History feature for July 30, The Associated Press misstated the classification of the USS Indianapolis (CA-35), which was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in 1945. According to Jane’s Fighting Ships of World War II, the Indianapolis was a Portland class heavy cruiser, not a battle cruiser.
