Correction: Carter on South America
BOGOTA — In an April 28 story, The Associated Press reported that former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said he was exploring bringing together the presidents of five South American with U.S. representatives in a forum to discuss sensitive issues.
The story should have made clear that Carter said he was seeking to create a “dialogue group” — and that he could reach any of the region’s presidents by phone — rather than asking the presidents to participate in direct meetings.
