Clinton telephones Zardari

ISLAMABAD - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Saturday telephoned President Asif Ali Zardari and conveyed to him the US support for democracy in Pakistan.
Clinton also discussed with Zardari the regional and bilateral issues and the forthcoming ‘Friends of Democratic Pakistan’ meeting to be held in Tokyo next month, according to the News Network International news agency.
She said the US would support Pakistan in every possible manner to tide over its difficulties.
She discussed the prevailing situation in Pakistan and said the US was keen to see a stable and democratic system strengthened in the country.
Zardari thanked Clinton for the US support to Pakistan.
She also placed a call to former Pakistani prime minister and chief of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif and discussed with him the prevailing situation in the country, according to local TV channel reports.
